Rhodes (Rhodos or Rodos in Greek), lies between Crete and the near East in the Aegean ocean. Rhodes is famous as the island of sun, sea and sand, the ideal place for vacations. It is the third largest Greek island, the biggest of the Dodecanese islands, and officially, the sunniest place in the Europe. Other places of interest include Petaludes Valley, also known as the Valley of the Butterflies, the ancient Ialyssos, on the top of Filerimos Hill, where the monastery of Filerimos from the 15th century also stands. and the ancient Kamiros. Rodos is also named the sun island or island of light because there are hardly any days when the sun doesn’t shine.
